SheetAI puts AI inside Google Sheets as a formula. You write =SHEETAI once, drag it down five hundred rows, and every row gets an answer. That single mechanic is the entire product and it is a genuinely better fit for bulk work than a chat interface.

The problem it targets is specific: your catalogue, your leads and your briefs already live in a spreadsheet, and every AI tool asks you to leave it, paste things in, and glue the results back by hand. Nobody budgets for that time but everybody spends it.

Media generation is the part people miss

Text generation in a spreadsheet is not new. What is less common is that SheetAI connects to Replicate, so a column of prompts produces a column of images, short video clips or audio. Two hundred product shots from two hundred rows, named and matched to the SKUs already sitting beside them.

For anyone producing campaign packs or catalogue imagery, that removes both the generation tool and the file-naming work in one step. It is the strongest argument for this over a general assistant.

Two ways to pay, and they are genuinely different

The BYOK tier costs nothing. You supply your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok or Replicate keys and get unlimited SHEETAI calls, paying only your provider’s bill. That is an unusually honest free tier: SheetAI takes nothing, and your costs are whatever the models actually cost.

Hosted plans exist for people who do not want to manage keys. Starter at $12 a month covers roughly 500 AI runs. Pro at $29 a month, or $290 a year, adds bulk media generation, bulk classification and summarisation, and what the vendor describes as soft-unlimited usage.

There are also one-time credit packs from $29 for up to 97 million tokens, rising to $299 for a billion. If your work is occasional large jobs rather than steady monthly use, buying a pack rather than subscribing is likely the cheaper path, and it is good that the option exists.

Where to be careful

Two of the published allowances are vague. Starter is around 500 runs, and Pro is soft unlimited. Neither is a number you can plan against, so if volume matters, ask what the actual ceiling is before committing.

The free tier’s catch is not the price but the setup. Obtaining API keys from several providers and managing their billing is straightforward if you have done it before and a genuine obstacle if you have not. The $12 hosted tier exists precisely to skip that, which is a fair trade.

This is Google Sheets only. There is no Excel equivalent, so if your team works in Excel this is not an option regardless of how well it fits otherwise.
