YouTube creators who want a second opinion on a thumbnail before publishing rather than after the numbers come in.
Thumbnail AI does one narrow thing: you upload a YouTube thumbnail, and it tells you how likely it is to earn a click and why. Not after the fact, from analytics, but before you publish.
That timing is the point. Click-through rate is the metric most creators can only diagnose in hindsight, once a video has already underperformed and the algorithm has largely decided its fate. A prediction beforehand is worth more than a post-mortem, even an imperfect one.
Four dimensions: audience fit, emotion, curiosity gap and clickbait level. You can optionally supply the title, and it is worth doing, because a thumbnail and title are read together by a viewer and a curiosity gap usually lives across both rather than in either alone.
The output names strengths and weaknesses rather than handing back a single number. That matters: a score of 62 tells you nothing actionable, whereas being told the emotional read is flat or the text competes with the subject gives you something to change.
From there it generates alternative titles, and on the paid plan alternative thumbnails. The flow is deliberately short: upload, read the analysis, generate better options.
There are effectively three tiers, and the lowest requires no account at all. You can run a thumbnail through it without handing over an email, which is rare enough to note and means you can judge whether the analysis is any good before committing anything.
Signing up for the free plan gives 10 analyses a day. For a creator publishing weekly, that covers iterating on a thumbnail properly rather than testing it once. Pro at $9.99 a month raises analyses to 100 a day and adds 120 thumbnail generations a month.
Note the asymmetry in those Pro limits: analysis is capped daily, generation monthly. If your main reason for paying is generating variations rather than analysing them, 120 a month is the number that will actually constrain you.
A predicted click-through rate is a model’s opinion, not a measurement. It has not seen your audience, your channel history or what else is in the viewer’s feed at that moment. Treat a low score as a prompt to look again, not as a verdict, and never let it override something you have evidence works for your channel.
The clickbait score is similarly a reading rather than an instruction. Where you want to sit on that scale is an editorial decision about your channel’s relationship with its audience, and pushing the number up will reliably raise clicks while doing nothing good for retention or trust.
There is no API, so this stays a manual step before upload. And it is a solo-built project rather than a company product, which is worth factoring in if you are deciding whether to build it into a routine.
