Notion AI is not a separate purchase. It is a set of AI features layered into Notion’s existing workspace, and the pricing page reflects that directly: there is no standalone Notion AI plan, only a trial of it on the Free and Plus tiers and fuller access once you reach Business.

That matters for anyone comparing it against a dedicated AI writing tool. You are not evaluating Notion AI on its own merits so much as deciding whether Notion, as a whole workspace, is where you want AI features to live rather than in a separate app.

What each tier actually unlocks

Free and Plus both carry only a trial of Notion AI. The real capability sits on Business at $20 per member per month: a Notion Agent that completes tasks inside the workspace, AI-generated meeting notes, and enterprise search across everything you have stored. Plus at $10 adds custom forms, custom sites and unlimited collaborative blocks, none of which are AI features at all.

Read that carefully before assuming Plus gets you a working AI assistant. It gets you a better Notion. The AI jump specifically happens at Business.

Who this actually suits

If your team already runs on Notion, paying for Business to get AI features embedded in documents you already maintain is a reasonable trade against a separate AI subscription plus the friction of copying content between tools. If you do not already use Notion, evaluating this as an AI product on its own is the wrong frame. You would be adopting an entire workspace to get the AI features bundled inside it.

Where to be careful

Per-member pricing scales with headcount in a way a flat subscription does not. Twenty dollars a month sounds small until you multiply it across a large team, at which point Business becomes a genuine budget line rather than a rounding error.
