Monica

Monica is an aggregator rather than a model. It routes your requests to frontier models from several vendors and wraps them in a browser sidebar, a desktop app and a mobile app. The pitch is one subscription instead of several, and that is the only reason to choose it over going direct.

The interface is a conventional chat window with a model selector, plus sections for Bots, Search, Read, Write, Artist and Translate. Nothing about it is unusual, which is the point: the differentiation is in where it runs and what it can reach, not in the chat itself.

The sidebar is the actual product

Monica’s most useful feature is that it sits alongside whatever page you are on. Select text and explain, translate or summarise it in place. Draft a reply without leaving the page. Answers appear next to search results rather than in a separate tab.

That is a genuine workflow difference from opening a chat tab, and it is worth more than any single feature on the list. If you would not actually use a sidebar, most of Monica’s advantage disappears and you may as well subscribe to a model vendor directly.

The tiers are about credits, not capability

Pro at $8.30 a month, billed as US$99 a year, is the entry paid plan. Max at $16.60 a month adds image and video generation, the AI Agent, Deep Research, Create Slides, Image Studio and Browser Operator, along with 4,500 advanced credits a month.

Ultra at $82.90 a month lists the same feature set as Max. What changes is the credit allowance: 20,000 instead of 4,500. That is roughly four times the credits for five times the price, so Ultra only makes sense at genuinely heavy usage and should be checked against that arithmetic rather than assumed to unlock anything new.

The Max price carries a flash sale badge, discounted from US$299 a year to US$199. Treat US$299 as the price you may actually renew at.

Where to be careful

The free plan’s allowance is not published anywhere on the pricing page, only the US$0 figure. You have to sign in to find out what you actually get, which makes it hard to judge whether the free tier is usable before committing an account.

Aggregators also carry a dependency the underlying vendors do not. Which models Monica offers, and at what credit cost, is Monica’s decision and can change. If you need a specific model reliably, going direct removes that layer.

There is no public API, so Monica is an assistant you use rather than infrastructure you build on.
